Poems about dating violence
Media was negotiated by Universal Mc Cann across Mc Cann’s Bristol and Birmingham offices.
Each ad features a poem that conjures up a cosy picture of family life at Christmastime. But if read from the bottom up, the lines reveal the horror of a household living with domestic violence.Refuge’s call to action is: "If your partner turns on you, turn to us." Made pro bono by Mc Cann Bristol, the work is running across press, radio, poster sites and social media, with full-page ads appearing in Woman’s Own, Marie Claire and Bella. The campaign was created by Zane Radcliffe and Ken Sara, while Universal Mc Cann handled media. We want women to know that no matter what time of year, no one should suffer in silence and they should ‘turn’ to us for support.”Vince Mc Sweeney, chief creative officer of Mc Cann Central said: “The amount of craft that has gone into writing these reversible poems and making the whole campaign is in tribute to the often life-saving work that Refuge undertakes every day.We hope that this campaign will show women and children affected by domestic abuse where to turn to.”The campaign was created by Zane Radcliffe and Ken Sara of Mc Cann Bristol.
